Located just 9 miles east of downtown San Diego, La Mesa lives up to its nickname as the "Jewel of the Hills." This welcoming city offers diverse housing options, from contemporary apartment communities to historic single-family homes. The heart of the community beats in La Mesa Village, where residents gather for weekly Friday farmers' markets and the annual Oktoberfest celebration, which attracts around 200,000 visitors. Current rental data shows one-bedroom apartments averaging $2,061 monthly, while two-bedroom units typically rent for $2,493.
La Mesa combines its historic charm with modern appeal. Harry Griffen Park hosts the popular "Sundays at Six" summer concert series, offering residents a perfect spot for outdoor entertainment. Grossmont Center serves as the area's primary shopping destination and is currently being revitalized under new ownership.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Echo Pointe
The management company doesn't care once your in the unit. You are truly on your own. As a tenant they ask you for monthly rent, charge you up the wazoo for utilities. And the community is not worth it at all. In the end its like buying a lemon car. It's an as is purchase because the maintenance team doesn't fix anything on time.
As a former tenant of Echo Pointe, The grounds of the apartment complex is great. Very well kept. The staff is professional and communicative about issues. Sure, there are quite a few kids who play on the street, but for its location its a steal. It's even in walking distance of a cute bar with some quick bites. I would highly recommend if you're looking to live close to the city but exactly IN the city.
No utilities are included in the rent. They will not tell you what the cost will be before you move in as it is based on your usage. This is a lie. Expect to pay anywhere from $175-200 per month for water, sewer, and trash. It is double what I paid for utilities at a house, which was larger and had a yard. The worst part is that the trash is the most expensive of the three. It’s more than my water bill, it’s even more than my SDGE bill. It is not a flat rate, even though it should be. They divide it by the number of occupied units, so when a bunch of people move out and they keep apartments vacant for months while they remodel, the remaining tenants have to pay the share of the trash bill for the vacant units.
I’ve complained numerous times to the old & new property managers about the bed bug issue & all I keep getting from them is “it’s a process” and “we’ll follow up with you” but THEY never follow up & it’s been two months. If you’re considering these apartments look elsewhere. The laundry rooms are the source of the bed bugs because crackheads & homeless people used to sleep in their. The machines don’t get hot enough to kill them so the bugs don’t die. This is how you bring them in your home. Property mgmt won’t do anything so don’t waste your time here, look elsewhere.
These apartments would be okay if they had somewhere for all of these kids to play.
My apartment is great because it is near the heart of la Mesa and is down the street from 3 differNt schools so it is kid friendly! It's a spacious 1 bedroom with a cozy kitchen...the rent was lower but increased due to some improvements needed for the roof. The landlord is really friendly and finally this place is service dog friendly! Cats are welcome too but there is a small one time fee!
