The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Desert Heights
Car was stolen from here even though it’s a gated community. Closet had mold and was falling apart. No security cameras. Washer and dryer units outdated. Has no assigned parking and hardly any garages open. Has regular dumpster divers here.
Best apartment in barstow, clean pools, laundry and surroundings. The only thing I am not a fan of are some of the pet owner residents who doesnt pick up after their dogs. But management is very helpful and the routine maintenance is great.
This apartment complex is just ok, but probably among the best Barstow has to offer. It's likely overpriced for the state of the apartment - very outdated kitchen and bathroom set up. However, I have to say that the worst part about living here is having to deal with the management. They are very difficult to track down, no one ever answers the phone, and they never seem to be in the office. If you leave messages, they aren't typically returned. Maybe the owners of the apartment complex need to hire additional staff or take steps to ensure that the current staff are more involved with tenants. In addition, payment of rent, service requests process, etc is very antiquated. You still have to drop off a rent check, whereas many similarly priced apartment complexes have migrated to online systems for payment of rent etc. All in all, I probably wouldn't recommend, but still likely the best Barstow has to offer (which doesn't say much).
Extremely overpriced! Parking is not regulated (hard to find a spot), dumpster area is nasty all the time, laundry room is over priced and not taken care of (by tenants or property management), too many water shut-offs, AC/Heater continued to go out, carpet was extremely warn/needed replacing, older windows (not double pane), no noise restriction policy (and if there is one it definitely was not enforced), lots of noise from street side, water bill is extremely high (billed monthly at apartments but bi-monthly in town and its almost triple what you'd pay in town). These apartments are a rip-off, not to mention the security deposit is a joke too, DO NOT expect to get it back (they tack on so many things that they don't tell you about). These apartments are a huge disappointment!
Been here since 2016 and it’s always been quiet up until a lot of Barstow college kids have moved in. Windows are thin so you can hear everything outside. Kids are always yelling and screaming late at night... no courtesy for people with little kids and those who work. They have a quiet policy at 10p but it’s not enforced. Gates hardly ever closed so security isn’t that secure. Rent just went up and a lot of us tenants who have lived here, including military, are questioning if rent is worth living here. Last but not least there’s no assigned parking so it’s first come first serve and if the college kids have visitors they take all the parking. It’s annoying but weigh ur options is all I’m saying.
I absolutely love my home. I was a first time renter and I'm so glad I chose to live here. I have a two bedroom two bath and only pay $790! This community is pet-friendly and the office manager Linda is the sweetest person ever. It's a nice gated community and feels extremely safe. I've had no issues here at all in the year I've lived here. I love it and would recommend it to anyone!
I have lived at the Desert Heights Apartments for 4 years, in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Whenever I have someone over for the firs time, they remark on the beauty of the complex. There are beautiful trees, green manicured grass and plenty of flowers. The apartments are small, but nice. The 2nd bathroom is a nice, rare addition in a 2 bedroom. The majority of the occupants are military or civilian government employees so we mostly keep the same work hours, meaning quiet evening and early risers. The gated complex with access control has really helped me feel safe in a town that has plenty of less savory neighborhoods. The parking is plentiful and electricty and cable are included in the rent! There is also a very nice laundry facility and a small gym. The only issue I have encountered is with the management. The manager was very polite and helpful when I was first viewing the property but as soon as I moved in, her attitude changed. She became less than interested in concerns and problems I addressed with her. Other occupants, including a friend of mine that moved in, had similar experiences. The maintenance man, however, is fantastic. Overall, I have enjoyed living here. It's a great option for small families and people who perfer quiet housing. I hope this review is helpful to anyone considering renting this property.
