Known as Wisconsin’s Maritime Capital, Manitowoc is located on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Manitowoc River. Manitowoc celebrates its shipbuilding history with the largest maritime museum on the Great Lakes, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, which highlights the city’s submarine construction efforts for World War II. Manitowoc is also the home port of the largest car ferry of the Great Lakes, transporting cars and passengers to and from Ludington, Michigan.
Manitowoc’s historic downtown area includes a range of restaurants, cafes, shops, and entertainment venues. Nearby, residents and visitors can explore the Home of the Great Spirit’s attractions such as the Rahr West Art Museum and Mansion, Pinecrest Historical Village, the Sputnik Crash Site, Lincoln Park Zoo, and Silver Creek Park. Several destinations within three hours’ driving distance of Manitowoc include Green Bay, Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Custer Village
Worst experience ever! Staff in the office are good people and very cooperative but the overall management and their policies are very greedy. They ask for double security deposit even though you meet all income requirements. And then try to squeeze every dime and nickel from that deposit while moving out. Among all the other charges, they charge me for bathroom bulb which was flickering, saying the bulb is missing. They charge heavily and hefty amounts for every small things no matter how clean you leave the apartment. For highway facing apartments, noise levels from the state highway is very loud. This high frequency noise will make you mad over the period. Cannot keep the windows open even for a minute. Floor is shaky. It shakes even if you are walking gently. My downstairs neighbor repeatedly kept complaining about the shaking roof and management kept sending me notices without checking the root cause. I really advise to look for other alternatives and avoid renting from Custer village unless you are homeless (in that case they won’t even accept your application)
