Property Ratings at Country Hills
STAY AWAY! My boyfriend and I tried to move in April 1st. We were first shown the units in the back. I couldn’t believe Katy would want to show us apartments in those conditions. The hallway stairs were ripped up, the door was falling apart the inside was worse!! The maintenance guy was nice enough to let slip that the building had water damage and that they where in the middle of fixing it up. I told them that that was unacceptable and Katy quickly showed us another unit in the front. We decided to move in. worst decision ever! Katy was nice enough (at first) to let us move in the weekend before so it didn’t interfere with our up coming travels. We checked out the apartment the Thursday before and it was DIRTY! The carpets were dirty and the appliances were not cleaned and it was a mess all over the dining room floor from where they patched a wall. We alerted Katy who promised us that she’d have everything clean and ready Friday afternoon for us to move in. Of course, it was still dirty. We decided to just clean it ourselves before we moved in. We got a rug doctor and various cleaning supplies and cleaned for 4 hours Friday night. As we were taking a break, I noticed a roach crawling into a small hole on the top of the stove. My boyfriend opened the stove and MORE ROACHES WERE INSIDE! We immediately grabbed the few boxes we brought and got out! The next morning we called their maintenance line and alerted them of the problem and they had Katy call us right away. She told us to give it a couple of days because they had just sprayed the Wednesday before and that if the roaches were still there she’d send out the sprayers again. I told her no! If they lived through the first spray, they’d live through the next one. She agreed and said to come by the office that Monday to discuss a refund of our deposit and first month’s rent. THAT WAS MARCH 30th and it is JUNE 15th and I have yet to receive my refund! The girl at corporate Shequita always redirects my calls to their Kansas property. I had to call from my boyfriend’s phone, my work phone and I even called private one time because she kept blocking each new number I called from. But she always answered when I called from new numbers. Katy is in on it too, she even told me Shequita was ignoring my calls because she didn’t have an answer! Avoid them at all cost.
This place is a dump. My son lives here. He borrowed my car and they towed my vehicle. Half the place looks burned up. Beware!
I just moved in a week ago. It's a quiet place and the management is awesome

I have thoroughly enjoyed living in these apartments for the past year! The convenience of being so close to Texas State (walking distance) is amazing! I'm so thankful they allow and love dogs! The maintenance and staff are always expediently quick to resolve any maintenance issues, if any; and are always so kind and helpful! The view from the third floor is breath taking since the apartments are on top of a hill. I love these apartments so much I'm staying for another year!
