The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Colonial Garden
I lived there for one year and that was the worst place I've ever lived. The manager was so bad and not responsive. They did not fixed the apartment problem in a timely manner! Our refrigerator was not working and they changed it after more than a week and our food spoiled! The price also is so high! There is also always a bad smell in the hallways because they don’t clean it! The washer and driers also were so dirty and not hygienic!
I lived in a one bedroom apartment here while I was a graduate student at UD. The rent is really good for what you get. The parking was fine. I never had a problem finding a spot. The rooms are big and the closets were huge. The maintenance was quick when I reported any problems. The downsides for me were the lack of dishwashers and washer/dryers in the unit.
Great experience living here! Convenient to all the restaurants and shopping in and around Main St. Maintenance responds quickly and is very helpful. Dart picks up and drops off at entrance to neighborhood which is convenient. You do hear a little noise from time to time but that's to be expected in most apartments. All in all I definitely recommend the community. The dumpsters are hidden inside little barn-like structures which really improves the neighborhoods' appearance. My electric bills are, on average, the same as in previous apartment complexes. Also, I really enjoy having the on-site laundry rooms. It's easier to to do here than to cart it to a laundromat (and probably cheaper too). All in all, a great neighborhood. I've lived here for a year and have no intention of moving anytime soon.
My friend and I were roommates at Colonial Garden for one year. There were some nice perks to living there: the location was convenient; the apartment was a decent size; you could choose between Comcast or Verizon for your cable/phone/internet service; there was laundry access in every building; and water, sewer, heat, trash, and parking were all included in the rent. However, every one of these “perks” was accompanied with a host of downsides: poor water pressure in the shower; low-flush toilets that clogged with the slightest use; dark, creepy, disgusting dumpster sheds that were located at the back corners of the property (I never felt safe walking out to either one of them); washers and dryers that you had to pay to use; and an unmonitored parking lot that non-residents frequently parked in without detection or consequence. All-time lowlights of our time at CG included: our thrice-broken heater in the dead of winter; my car getting stuck on a patch of ice in the parking lot, preventing me from going to work for a full day; my roommate having to drive around the 100% full parking lot for over an hour one night at 11 PM, waiting for someone to leave so she could claim their spot; and a noisy, ever-present infestation of squirrels in the attic above our third-floor apartment. (Maintenance addressed the squirrel issue by setting traps, which would ultimately snap on the unsuspecting animals, causing them to loudly cry and whimper in pain as they slowly died. I heard this plainly at least three times. It was horrific.) Other issues, concerns, and inconveniences included poor insulation (causing high electric bills all summer [$150-200/mo.] and countless chilly nights in my corner bedroom during the winter); no elevators (freight or passenger) to facilitate residents' moves; paper-thin walls and floors; apathetic staff who often did not respond to emails; inconvenient leasing office hours (9-5 Monday through Friday only); and frequent arrests in the complex. I will say that Maintenance stayed on top of requests and addressed them all in a very timely manner. Routine maintenance is necessary even in the newest of apartments and, considering the age of the building, we had very few issues. In summary? It could have been worse - but is that really the best you want to be able to say about the place you call home?
I've lived at Colonial Garden with a roommate for two years. It's close to campus and it's priced well. It can get a little noisy and parking is tight. Great place for students from UD.

This apartment is very close to the University of Delaware. It is very convenient for them who are studying or working at University of Delaware. The apartments in this community has only one appliance (Refrigerator). That is also very old.
