80 miles east of St. Louis, Mount Vernon looks like your typical small town. Main Street is lined with long-established buildings and businesses, but there’s a flourishing community atmosphere here.
There are quaint cottages and bungalows set among acres of land just outside the city center, with seven parks set within the town’s borders. Through April and October the town hosts Market Days, wherein an open-air market takes over the downtown area, offering crafts and more. The Cedarhurst Craft Fair is also a popular event, bringing the near 16,000 people of Mount Vernon out and about.
Developments have been slow and steady for this Illinois town, but new restaurants and businesses are opening every year. For those who still commute to work, I-57, I-64, and IL 15 will carry you anywhere you need to go.

Great place to live and good location close to any store and the interstate.
This place is a dump run by prison guards. Given the opportunity I would break the lease immediately
My husband and I were relocating to Illinois from Florida. We were able to do all transactions over the phone and email. Our apartment is lovely. Kitchen has plenty of storage and the complex is very quiet. They even had a laundry basket welcome gift for us when we moved in. Everyone I have met is very friendly. Definitely recommend

Excellent staff. Prompt replies to requests and communication. Clean apartments and facilities. Affordable. Good location.
Great office and maintenance staff, nice apartments, quiet area. My only complaint (if that) is the overall laundry situation. While most of my bad experiences with laundry are because of other tenants, having about 12 washers and about 8 dryers always seemed off, and there always seemed to be a good machine not working when I needed it. Overall, I would live there again though.
Recently moved into Chesterfield. Friendly staff helped make the transition easy. Attentive to any issues/questions I had. Love the convenience of this location. Nice to have a new happy home.
I really enjoy living at Chesterfield Village. I have lived here about a year and a half and have had no major problems. The negatives in my opinion are some of the fixtures in the apartments are a little dated, and there is no central air conditioning (there is a window unit mounted in the wall). I think the window unit kepts the one bedroom apartment at a comfortable temperature, but it can be loud at times. I think the staff definitely makes up for the negatives, however. They are very friendly and quick to solve any problems. They are constantly doing nice things for the residents, such as throwing parties and other events, having free snacks in the office, giving us free laundry tokens, etc. I have wonderful neighbors, everyone is friendly, respectful, and courteous. The complex is in a great area close to amenities and is very safe. Overall I would definitely recommend living here.
