Alta Mesa is an inland residential community located a few blocks west of Downtown Santa Barbara. The streets are lined with houses, apartments, townhomes, and condos, with rental options available to suit any taste. Locals enjoy ample opportunities to spend quality time outdoors: Honda Valley occupies the center of the neighborhood, the huge Elings Park borders the west side, and Santa Barbara’s gorgeous beaches are only a couple of blocks away.
A small shopping plaza at the corner of Cliff Drive and Meigs Road features a handful of supermarkets and cafes: start your day with coffee and breakfast at Good Cup, chow down on some vegetarian fare at Mesa Verde, or dig into some tacos at Super Cuca’s. Santa Barbara City College sits on the east end of the neighborhood, making it a great spot for students, faculty, and staff members.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Channel View Apartments
If you're looking for a short-term rental and don't plan to be home often, we can see that this complex would work. If you're looking for a long-term rental and working from home, we'd look for a different location for a few reasons. 1) The walls are thin - even if you're told the walls have extra insulation. We frequently hear our neighbors' conversations on both sides of us, especially when they're on virtual work meetings. 2) Although we were told it was non-smoking, we now see tenants smoking and can smell the smoke. Definitely not smoke-free, and it continues to happen even since we all received a warning email not to smoke. 3) The view is beautiful, but the amenities are minimal and older. We see newer units online in SB for the same price with more amenities. 4) There's no security gate and people wander onto the property. We've had amazon boxes stolen and laundry taken from laundry room. 5) There are a lot of dogs. Not everyone picks up their dog poo, and it's getting gross this summer. 6) Price! With everything listed above, you can find a better place long-term for such a high price. The price here is all about the view.
Location is great. Short drive from downtown, right behind a strip mall with grocery stores, good restaurants, etc. Ocean views. Just not worth the ridiculously high rent. Maintenance guy often takes months to get around to any request, laundry room has a curfew and most tenants aren't courteous enough to get their clothes promptly. Parking lot has had issues with security and there's a ton of tenant turnover.
