Syracuse combines city living with historic appeal. The city features established neighborhoods like Sedgwick Farms and Strathmore, each with its own architectural character. Current rental trends show moderate increases, with average rents ranging from $1,192 for studios to $2,309 for four-bedroom units, reflecting annual increases between 1.4% and 4.6%. Syracuse University anchors the University Hill neighborhood, contributing to the area's educational and cultural landscape.
The city celebrates its heritage through well-preserved spaces like Clinton Square, which transforms throughout the year to host seasonal festivals and community gatherings. Onondaga Lake Park offers miles of paved trails for walking, biking, and skating. The historic Burnet Park encompasses the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and the nation's first public golf course. Downtown's Armory Square district features local shops and restaurants in restored 19th-century buildings.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Carriage House
I can't stress enough how bad this place is. I've lived here for a while now and dealt with horrible neighbors that scream and bang on their floor like they're at a construction site at all times of the night. Maintenance does the bare minimum when they're called they do respond fast I'll give them that and one Maintenance guy is really nice and cares about the work. This place is worse because of the mice and roach situation. Caught 4 mice while I've been living here and killing roaches the whole time. It's been a few times where they say pest control is coming to check on the place but never end up showing up. We would have to adjust our work schedules for when they do come because the notice threatens us with a lease violation, just for them to not come.
I would renew my lease if I weren't moving states. Apartment was clean, neighbors not too loud, good price, maintenance requests are responded to in my experience, appliances all function great. No smell or mold or general crappy apartment vibes in my unit. Obviously this is not a luxury apartment, but it's worlds better than other places I've lived in Syracuse and the staff has been friendly the few times we've spoken. I do have a basement unit and have noticed silverfish, but I keep a dehumidifier, traps, and a clean space so it's not really been a huge deal - just keep in mind if you have allergies or pets.
A lady told me one bedroom is available so I emailed the apt to ask for more details. Then another person told me one bedrooms are not available. But after I told him someone told me it is available, he said they do have one bedroom. I was going to sign the lease and asked for the contract, surprisingly, they told me I have to check in June. A waste of time!
