Context:: Overall Renting in Artesia is an abysmal proposition whose only bright point is that you will always pay too much for something unless you know someone, real well. Housing in general is sky high for middle of no where New Mexico, 3 hours from an interstate. 3 loooooooong hours. High housing costs is due to 3 factors Lots of rich people, due to a local oil company with crazy profit sharing going public. They drove up prices buying up properties to rent to 2 groups of people the oil workers and to federal law enforcement at FLETC FLETC is the federal law enforcement training center and they have a monthly stipend for rent that seriously drives up rent and more importantly makes a large chunk of rental properties into $2k prefurnished affairs.
