The city's extensive parks system includes a swimming pool, golf courses, an outdoor ice skating rink, and tennis courts. More than 220 acres are devoted to parks, including Bleser Park. This large park contains the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center, which includes a lazy river, water slides, a zero-depth entry pool, and a splash ground.
Walker Road provides a commercial strip through the city, lined with restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and other businesses. Avon Lake is home to several top-rated schools, including Avon Lake High School, ranked by Newsweek as one of the best in the country.
