Area 51 is an amazing place to live, especially if you’re attending UMKC School of Law, as the Law building is across the street. I use the common room to study a lot as the furniture there is more comfortable than the stuff I have in my apartment. The courtyard is beautiful and a wonderful place to study as well. It’s a very friendly community and pet friendly.

I wish I was exaggerating but we have had two vehicles STOLEN (one motorcycle and one sedan, within 6 months) out of their “locked and secure” parking garage and multiple times we have had our front door decorations stolen as well. Front desk says they’re reviewing the tapes and we’ve worked with the police but it doesn’t seem to be effective in solving what is clearly a security issue in the apartment complex. On both cases, we spoke to the KCPD and they said they NEVER got an update from B51 on the supposed security footage from the garage. B51 "generously" offered two months of free parking for a spot which currently doesn’t even have a vehicle! But, that is all they were willing to offer. The loss of monetary value is bad(over $12,000 worth of stuff), the feeling that you and your belongings aren’t safe is worse. The management team is dishonest and doesn't care about you or your personal belongings. I don't trust this team enough to buy a third vehicle and store it with them. Not to mention, they listed a "swimming pool" as an amenity, but what you really get is about a foot of water for dipping your toes in. Brookside 51 is a great place to live.. it's pet friendly, has easy access to the trolley trail and safe places to walk; close to loads of restaurants and activities. The apartments are modern and quiet. A nice mix of city living and quiet neighborhood.

Moving to Brookside 51 has been a great experience! The location is PRIME. I woke up my first day here and opened my patio door to be able to listen to live music from Liberty Memorial which is just the best view. After that, I was able to use my free Ride KC Bike membership (which comes with being a resident here) to bike to the local Brookside Art Fair. It was the best first day! Brookside 51 is exceptional!

Really enjoyed the location of Brookside 51. With Whole Food Market downstairs, trails, and restaurants near the place, I rarely need to drive my vehicle and have been able to saved some gas money. Brookside 51 has it's pros, from awesome amenities, location, high-end living feel. However, I cannot recommend living here for one reason alone. At the current time, the power in the building goes out once or twice a month, for over an hour at a time. As a work from home employee, it puts major strain on my job and makes it very difficult to schedule anything. Any other WFH employees would best be suited elsewhere with a more consistent connection.

Brookside 51 is a wonderful place to live and has fantastic amenities. My apartment was perfect during the quarantine because of the amenities, the friendly neighbors and the Whole Foods downstairs.

It's great but too many large dogs. Not good for a person with pet allergies. I was in elevator number 2 and a dog jumped towards me and almost snapped my food from my hand.

Tonight a member of maintenance staff tried to enter our apartment using the keypad. He said there was a power cut in our apartment but didnt knock because he thought it was unoccupied. Its hard to believe that he would really be so concerned to check out a power cut at 10pm in an "unoccupied apartment". There is no sign of a power cut anywhere in the apartment building. This has happened before. A few months ago I was asleep and someone enetered my apartment and then tried to run off when they saw me. I challenged them and later heard from management that the person had been given the code "by mistake" but didnt even work for Brookside 51. They had no legitimate reason to be in our apartment Since making a complaint we have been harassed. They have threatened to tow our car, and later stated there was no reason to do so and have sent us to collections when we did not pay a bill they sent us for two thousand dollars more than the amount we owed despite us trying to resolve it with them numerous times. They then lied to us about sending a correct invoice but our email trail showed that they were lying. We dont feel safe here

The work on the exterior of the building is concerning to us. And probably to future renters. The monthly social events are fantastic!

pretty quick maintenance care for non-emergency situations. i assumed they would take the weekend off, but if i had something more urgent hopefully they would have come sooner

I'm so happy that I stumbled upon Brookside 51 when searching for an apartment to live in Kansas City. I just started my medical residency program and can honestly say the people working at B51 have become like family. Not only have they all made the effort to learn my name, they have invested personal time and interest into always asking about my day and are so supportive as I'm starting this journey away from home. Kelly, the manager, is a true professional always with a smile on her face and blesses me with daily kindness when I'm sure it has been a tremendous effort getting this beautiful new building leased up and off the ground running. Brandon, the assistant manager, was so helpful throughout the leasing process, generously showed me 5 different units wanting to make sure I found the perfect one to suit my needs, and continues to go above and beyond for me as a tenant even though they already have my business. Not only do I plan on staying here throughout my residency, but I can see myself here past it as it is such a great place to live. Also, take it from someone who literally works all different hours of the day, I personally have never been awoken by "noise", and have always received not only advanced notice prior to the very few entries that have been made into my unit, but they have worked with my schedule to make sure they weren't interrupting me sleeping before a night shift. Hope this review helps those in the future trying to decide between places, I can truly say there's not a single other place I would want to live in Kansas City.

Multiple problems:1. Management rude and unhelpful as mentioned by other reviewers here. This is in contrast to how nice and friendly they are when they want you to sign a lease agreement. They do not reply to emails or return calls if problems arise 2. Noisy, woken several times at night due to poor noise insulation, I don’t think people are having parties or anything like that but noise transmits very easily from adjacent apartments 3. Management enter apartments without adequate notice or permission. I can understand if it’s for an emergency but this is not 4. Appliances included are not very good. Washing machines cause damage to clothing We were happy to pay a little more for a quality place to live but we have been very dissapointed so far

You would think living above Whole Foods would be just ONE of the amazing perks of living here at these apartments. But let me tell you, it is the ONLY good thing about living here. The management office is not helpful, they are rude and talk down to it's residents. The fire alarms are constantly going off, and guess what, management doesn't ever let you know why that is. There is a flooding issue and constant (annoying and rude) work going on. They said this apartment complex "finished" construction in October, but that is just a utter lie because there is constant work being done (roof work late at night, which is just rude. Why do you have to do construction work in the DARK and from 10 PM to 2 AM?) Save yourself the money and look elsewhere for a place to live. Buy yourself a gift for choosing not to live here :)
