Established in 1942 by the United States Government, Oak Ridge was formed to be the site of the Manhattan Project—the secret World War II program that developed the atomic bomb—and the home base for the tens of thousands who worked on the project, along with their families. Oak Ridge, sometimes referred to as “The Secret City” and “The Atomic City,” became an independent city in 1959. Oak Ridge honors its past with the Manhattan Project National Historical Park, the American Museum of Science and Energy, and the annual Secret City Festival held each June.
Located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Oak Ridge offers residents plenty of options for outdoor recreation. The 173-mile-long Melton Hill Lake is a popular destination for rowing, boating, and fishing. Oak Ridge’s 12 scenic greenways and 16 beautiful parks offer ample space for a broad range of land-based activities. Quick access to I-40, I-75, and the Oak Ridge Turnpike connects the city to nearby Knoxville and beyond.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Bristol Park
If you are a Young female living by yourself I would not recommend living here. A certain maintenance man banged on my door around 5:15 pm, which is after hours, in front of 2 other people who lived in the complex, yelling and screaming at me for something that I didn’t do. I’m sorry but this is unacceptable. I shouldn’t be at my house in my comfort being accused of things. He also stated that next time he sees poop outside anywhere on the property that I will be charged. I also have issues as how maintance can just come into the apartment whenever they want unannounced. As a female being at a house alone and them walking in, without knocking or calling after requesting multiple times, is not excusable especially with what happened at the complex in Orlando, FL. We expressed our concerns numerous times to the management team and they seemed not to care. We also expressed our concerns on why we were not returning for another year, and the management team of Nickel Plate Properties didn’t seem to care.

*Update move out inspection consisted of pulling up the carped and inspecting it for stains..... mind you I have a toddler who frequently spilled & made messes. In all my years of renting this is the first time an inspection included lifting up carpet and implying it was a pet mess!!!! It's funny because how do I know they weren't there before? They never showed me the under carpet prior to moving in. There was a huge patch in the middle of the carpet that came up a couple weeks after we moved in so obviously it wasn't new carpet. My dogs were very well house and crate trained. Once again another beware for ALL RENTERS!!
So let me start out by saying that these are really the nicest apartments. We were really in a bind when my job transferred me to the area and finding housing on Craigslist was almost impossible. They allowed me to bring my two large dogs with $1000 pet deposit. Seriously, life savers, this review is not based on living here it's based on my move out experience. Two months before my lease is up and I'm to move, they ask if they can do a pre-move walk-through of the apartment and course I said yes. They come through take a look and a couple days later I get a phone call that my apartment smells like an animal and they will have to clean all the carpeting & clean the vents and paint the ceiling. OK that's fine, I paid $1000 pet deposit which should cover most of this. Today, I was informed that my pet deposit was solely for the privilege of having my animals there. Of course, this was not explained to me when I was signing my lease..... I probably would have just gone to a hotel till I found a house. I am furious. Pet-parent Renters beware that if you have animals, Bristol Park Apartments may come across as pet-friendly; however they definitely are NOT!!
