If you're a remote worker, a busy freelancer, or an aspiring entrepreneur trying to turn your side hustle into The Next Big Thing, you're probably familiar with co-working spaces. More conducive to getting things done than your neighborhood coffee shop or your home office full of distractions, co-working spaces offer a desk, office equipment (like printers and fax machines) and other amenities that make going it alone a little less lonely. Co-working spaces continue to grow in popularity, and the right space can help you grow your business by providing you with the space and resources you need. I've shared a list of co-working space options in Austin before, but there's a new space on the East side that's worth mentioning: Createscape.
Createscape was created with the creative professional in mind, so if your work involves design or media, you'll fit right in. There are two tiers of membership: General Co-working and Designated Desk. A General Co-working membership is $120/month, which gets you access to the general co-working space (you'll have desks, couches and tables to choose from), plus 2-hours of conference room time each month. The Designated Desk membership runs $300/month and includes a permanent desk (so you can leave your computer and other equipment hooked up), a locker and file cabinet, 24/7 access and 5 hours of conference room time per month. Both levels of membership include free coffee and tea, use of a printer and general office supplies, weekly events like happy hour (with free beer!), a lending library, a listing on the membership page and, of course, fast wi-fi. Createscape has also negotiated discounts for equipment and studio rentals around town.
Createscape is located on E M Franklin Avenue, near Manor Road and Airport Boulevard. Office hours are 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, if you're interested in dropping by to check the space out. Createscape is currently accepting applications for new members.
