Property Ratings at Ben Apartments
STEER CLEAR!!!! The elevator is always out of order, old appliances, only one, old washing machine per floor, no amenities... not worth the steep rent!!! BEWARE !!!!!
Expect your rent to increase at least once a year by 13-15%. The jacuzzi has not worked for years. The apt is expensive considering there are no amenities. Also laundry now costs $1.75 to wash and $1.75 to dry. My last 6 months there were constantly issues with the parking lot being broken into and things being stolen from cars despite the gate. The elevator breaks every couple months - so don’t move here if you can’t do stairs. Don’t expect to get your full deposit back and don’t expect to be given receipts for the charges deducted from it.
The neighborhood is pretty quiet. The building has 3 floors and assigned parking. The rent is on the higher end compared to what you get as a tenant. The rent will increase almost every year to cover the owners increasing taxes. A manager lives on-site. The building no longer has a jacuzzi on the top floor, it was covered. Since the building is concrete the person who has the second bedroom or anyone in the living room can hear anyone walking by. Although the apartments are supposed to have central air, the thermostat doesn't display the correct temperature in the apartment and the master bedroom doesn't get as cool as the living room or the second bedroom. The garbage disposal is cheaply made so be sure to throw things in the trash instead. There is a laundry room on every floor with one washing machine and two dryers, its $1.25 to wash and dry. There are forms to fill out that have to be dropped in the manager's mailbox for maintenance requests. You can take the staircase if you don't want to take the elevators. For cable and internet you can have Dish, Time Warner Cable, Direct TV of AT&T.
