Stretching north from Allentown along the Lehigh River to Spring Street, Whitehall is a family-friendly township with terrific shopping and a fascinating history. Along MacArthur Road, Whitehall’s “Golden Strip,” you’ll find the vast Lehigh Valley Mall, one of the region’s largest indoor malls, as well as Whitehall Mall and several strip plazas. This is also where you’ll find a variety of restaurants, from local favorites like Whitehall Diner to popular chains and mall staples.
Formed in 1752, Whitehall was supposedly named for a hunting lodge in the area. Lynford Lardner, the lodge’s owner, painted it with a whitewash and although the lodge was named “Grouse Hall,” everyone referred to it as the “white hall.” One of the historic landmarks in Whitehall, the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill, was built in 1807. Today, it is owned by the Whitehall Historical Society and is open to the public for special events, scheduled tours, and monthly meetings.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Barkley Village Apartments
If you want a quiet, caring, friendly living environment, this needs to be the next place you call home! I lived here for three years and had such a memorable experience. Beckie is the property manager and is as responsive, friendly, and understanding as they come. She ALWAYS was such a pleasure to see and followed up on any issues anyone had. My daughter and I would go on walks and sometimes just stop by to see her face which always put a smile on my daughter's face. Her maintenance team always went above and beyond to make my apartment truly feel like a home. Not once did any member of the maintenance team drive by without waving hello to me. The neighborhood is one big family that helps each other take out trash, shovel snow, and just genuinely care about your well-being. I will miss everyone so much at Barkley Village. I am going to be a first-time home owner soon so if you are reading this, please be assured that I will still be living at Barkley Village had this life event not come up for me. This is a dream come true for anyone seeking to call their next apartment, a home
Hello, I was 1 of your 1st tenants back in 1976. I am 53 yrs old now , but back then of course I was 9 when my family moved here. We had left the area after 2 or 3 years but I will always remember this place. In the summertime you would hear the trains go past your apartment all night long. Now, the train tracks are gone and ow, you have a beautiful walking trail. The pool looks the same, of course the workout room is totally different with all the exercise equipment. The modern appliances look great too. It's nice to see this Beautiful place is still going strong.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at these apartments over the last 2 1/2 years until recently but it was not the fault of the apartment or management. We had several problems with a neighbor and both management and maintenance have been great with helping us. I love having a washer and dryer in the apartment and a patio or deck if you live on the second floor. They have upgraded each apartment when someone moves out so they are quite stylish. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking in this area.
I've lived in a 2 bedroom for 3 years. I've been happy with the size of the apartment and space. There are plenty of closets for storage and the living room is a nice size. Laundry room in the apartment is a great bonus. Maintenance is usually responsive pretty quickly but my balcony is in bad shape and hasn't been fixed. Apparently this is a big project they need to do to upgrade a lot of them. Otherwise it's a nice place to live.
Save your money and rent elsewhere. The management staff is a joke. The rental manager, Becky, does not care about professionalism at all. The owners should do a complete overhaul of the staff here and some upgrades of the properties themselves. Looks like it is with new owner, but not sure if they will do the necessary changes including ridding themselves of the poor management that caused the previous owners to foreclose.
At Barkley Village Apartments you have everything you need. There is an option or one or two bedrooms. I currently reside in a one bedroom. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious laundry room, living area, enough room for a 6 seater dining room table, and lots of closets! We are in a safe neighborhood and close to various shopping centers. There is a fitness center and an indoor pool. The best management around.
I moved in one week ago and I am very comfortable and I feel very safe. The apartment is just what my son and I needed. We downsized but the apartment is way big enough and the storage is tremendous. Plenty of closets. Love my laundry room!!!
We are starting our 2nd year in our apartment and so far we have no major complaints. The 2 bedrooms are a good size, 950 sqft. And have lots of storage space. Our first week here our washer broke, they brought a new one that next day. This summer our air conditioner broke and they complete replaced the unit and it's been perfect ever since. We love this area too, we are close to pretty much everything including our jobs. The schools are good too. I would definitely recommend these apartments!
