Living in Spartanburg combines historic charm with contemporary living in South Carolina's "Hub City." The community offers diverse housing options, from preserved homes in the Hampton Heights district to modern apartment communities throughout the city, with current average rents ranging from $1,089 for one-bedroom units to $1,390 for three-bedroom homes. Downtown Spartanburg features the Chapman Cultural Center and Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, adding to the area's cultural landscape. The Cottonwood Trail in the Edwin M. Griffin Nature Preserve offers scenic walking paths and outdoor recreation, while Wofford College and Converse University contribute to the city's educational environment.
Spartanburg's textile heritage remains visible in its historic mill villages, which have evolved into established residential neighborhoods alongside newer developments. The city's location near BMW's manufacturing facility has strengthened its economic base.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have lived here for no more than five months And I have no complaints. The community around here is very subtle and nice. There is a whole bunch of necessities that comes with the apartment. For example, a bed and a bedframe Couches and more. The management And leasing workers are very nice and understanding, due to them being in our same position.

Thank you! We’re so glad you love living at Auden and appreciate our amazing front office staff!
This place is not as advertised. Management(s) views its tenants as dollar signs. They do not address issues brought up by residents such as theft, drugs, and violence. Personally, on move-in day I was greeted by a filthy apartment (illegal drugs sitting on the window sill, a hookah with tobacco all over the table, and 2 roommates who only paid for one room). My roommates broke the lease in every way possible and management did not care about my well being by not addressing the issues. This forced me to move out.

Hi, there. Our residents are our number one priority so we are sad you think otherwise. We apologize that this was your move in experience as we strive for so much more. Please let our team know if there is anything else we can assist with. -Team Auden Upstate
I moved out after my apartment was broken into twice within one month. Late at night we would have to scan our key fobs multiple times to be let in or call security to bring a manual key. At the time, they would make us sign a form authorizing the property to charge $75 to our accounts which is crazy, but fortunately we never had to pay. Then Auden changed the rule from having to pay $75 when it’s after hours, to paying a $75 lockout fee when you need to be let in and the office is open. I’ve spent the last three months trying to get a hold of staff to receive my security deposit. No emails or phone calls have been returned. When communicating with the property, make sure you keep record of all of your conversations and the answers you receive. Ask two people any question you have about the lease/property just to make sure you get the same answer. Lastly, don’t play games with your car, lock your car doors, make sure your sticker is visible, and park where you’re supposed to because the towing service is not to played with.
This place is not to be trusted. It is a nice place on the outside but beware! I spoke to a gentleman in the office and was verbally told that no charges were charged when my son moved out and he would get his full refund. Less than 48 hours after that conversation, I get an email that says he was charged half his deposit for cleaning during move out. I personally cleaned and vacuumed the space before we left and there was no sign of damage. Carpets need to be cleaned after a resident leaves, I get that but that is the expense of the apartments unless there is damage to the carpet. I asked several times for clarification and assurance. They lied. My other son lived in the same apartment. He was charged and the apartment claimed that a broken light was found. It was not broken when I was helping him move out and we left the place clean. Money is tight so I wanted to get the place clean and acceptable for my two sons to get their deposits back, Do not trust people. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. Very disappointed!
I been seeing a lot of reviews about Auden Upstate. I live here and I want to say that the people writing these reviews are over exaggerating to the fullest extent. I will admit, when we first moved in, there was a problem with noise. However, this complex is under new management and they have been working vigorously to make things better around here. Noise has not been a problem in a long time. Also, as far as the "shooting" stated in one of these reviews, it wasn't really much of a shooting or anything to worry about at all. A NON residents firearm accidentally went off, resulting in a nonfatal shot to himself. This specific person has been banned from the property and has not been back. Since then, Auden has really stepped up in increasing security and using a new method of visitors paying to park with enforced towing to make sure that every person here is accounted for. I personally, along with the roommates that I have, have NEVER felt unsafe here. While it is a new complex, there are still things that need to be adjusted, but Auden is a great place to live.
The staff doesn’t care, it’s full of dog poo and trash, the buildings are terribly built so it is already falling apart, and now they are making us pay to be able to have visitors park
Parents stay "FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY!" When we viewed the website, prior to signing the lease, we were given the impression this would be a luxury, upscale apartment complex that catered to USC Upstate Students. The website stated "Our apartments offer residents everything needed to relax, recharge and excel." Auden Upstate Apartments has done nothing to allow its residents to relax, recharge, or excel. The environment has not been safe, the property appearance has not been up-kept, and nothing has been done to answer any complaints that have been submitted. Over the past two weeks, I have personally left numerous voicemails and emails. No calls have been returned and no emails have received a response. Numerous complaints have been submitted about the noise level. Based on the information provided when they agreed to their lease, there is a noise ordinance after 10 pm. Unfortunately, this is not being enforced. When I visited the complex, I was shocked. There was trash everywhere, the hammocks were turned over, people were sitting on the steps with music blasting and smoking/drinking alcohol. The entire atmosphere seemed very scary and unsafe. Not to mention, the shooting that occurred this weekend. I am truly afraid for the safety of my child and hate the day we moved her into Auden Upstate University. It has been nothing but a nightmare.
Struggled to get questions answered. I called the office for three days without a return call. When someone took the time to return my phone call, they had poor customer service. They are short staffed, do not expect assistance once you sign your lease agreement. Get all your questions asked up front.
