Welcome to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's capital city, where history meets contemporary living along the Susquehanna River. Current rental trends show moderate growth, with one-bedroom apartments averaging $1,184 per month and experiencing a 4.3% annual increase. The housing market includes options throughout established neighborhoods like Midtown and Uptown, as well as downtown communities. The Pennsylvania State Capitol building serves as the city's centerpiece, surrounded by a downtown area filled with restaurants, shops, and cultural destinations including the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.
Harrisburg balances city living with outdoor recreation, featuring Riverfront Park and the Capital Area Greenbelt, a 20-mile trail system weaving through the city's neighborhoods. The historic Broad Street Market, dating back to 1860, brings the community together with local vendors offering fresh produce and prepared foods.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Aspen Hill Apartments
I applied for a 3 bedroom apartment they refused to let me see it until 1 day prior to move In there were dead roaches in the kitchen smashed on the wall, roaches on the floor the blinds and celing fan was filthy the building was dirty too
My family and I just moved in to a first floor two bedroom two bath and we adore it here. The community here is very clean and friendly. The application process was easy, office staff has went above and beyond to help us with any questions or concerns from day 1. The maintenance man is so cool and polite. No issues with pests and the tenants in our building are super friendly.
This is the worst place I have ever lived in my life !!!!!! There are rodents (Mice), centipedes the size of scorpions. I have mold you can hear your neighbors ( I can hear my neighbor cough and talk). The floors have no padding and the whole side of my apartment is on a slant. The bedroom never stays warm in the winter time I either have to sleep on the couch or use an electric blanket all night, I can feel cold air coming through the electrical outlets. I stays hot all summer long, central air is horrible. Appliance are old. If you look at the sample apartment do not be deceived this is not what you are going to get when you get your keys to your place. The staff does nothing I have no idea why they are there. I would give this place a -100 if I could.
Dear Aspen Hill & Altman Management Company, I want to thank you for allowing me to be a tenant at your community for the last 4 years. I paid every single one of my rent payments and bills on time. I seriously had some amazing experiences while living there. I enjoyed the nightly visits from the bats who would poop all over the balconies of our entire building. Even when you hung up fancy metal to help keep them away they still came back to visit! The aroma of the urine from when someone peed in the hallway was great! When you would have visitors over and they would ask “what is that smell ? Is that pee?“ I thought it was so kind of them to point out the mess you never cleaned up. But it really brought my neighbors in the building together we would have a competition of who could mask it better with the best air freshener! I really enjoyed the surprise I came home to one day to find that a fire was almost started in my building when I was at work and better yet some of the packages downstairs mine included were almost used as kindling ! Let’s also not forget the weekly visits I got to have with the maintenance department from when my freezer would leak into my refrigerator causing damage to all of the food I had in there. Food is so cheap these days ! No problem at all! So I had the best news this summer! I was bettering myself and buying a house ! I needed to let you know by 8/1 if I was renewing my lease .... I let you know 3 days later .... Due to: I put an offer in on a house and was waiting to see what happened! Lucky me my offer was accepted ! But you so kindly told me that because I am 3 days late and giving you 57 days notice instead of 60 days ... I get to pay you a 1600$ cancellation fee! I spoke to a few kind people at your office ... they said “there is nothing I can do for you” “ too bad!!!” “ if we make an exception for you we would have to make an exception for everyone !!!” Myself and one of your kind employees even came to a compromise .... I said “ I’ll give you 300$(a 100$) for every day I was late in notice” she said “NO” By far the best customer service I ever received. Thank you for a great experience!
The rent is half cheap. That's the only benefit of living here.
Management is terrible!!! I have had 2 water leaks in my apt, maintenance doesn't respect your wish to be notified before entering your apt. When the issue came about and I went to express myself. Management was not helpful at all. I don't think any of them had customer satisfaction training. When I asked for the Corporate number...The Manager said......Get out and Google it. At that point I realized that they are not worth my time.
The apartment is okay. There isn't anything special about it.
Aspen Hill has the right mix of quality apartments, many of which have been recently renovated, at a price that works for me. Spacious rooms and in unit washer and dryer in renovated buildings. I love the walk through closet from my bedroom to my bathroom. A friendly staff gets any maintenance requests taken care of very quickly. I looked into moving here from Iowa several months in advance and there was a waiting list for nearly every floor plan as Aspen Hill is always very full. I've always considered that to be one of the greatest signs of satisfaction when a large complex has few or no open units. My few complaints: The entryways/ stairs give a poor first impression as they are dirty and need painted badly in some buildings. Also, in some of the 1 bedroom floor plans there isn't a storage closet or coat closet which is a little bit inconvenient.
I love the location of my apartment. We are so close to the city where we work, but still far enough removed to feel like we aren't living in the city. We have been here for the last 3 years and will be staying for quite a long time to come. We've always found our apartments through Apartments.com, and have been very happy with them!
