Ward 1 is a Tucson neighborhood situated along Interstate 10. The Santa Cruz River, and the trail that follows, flows through the eastern border of town along the interstate. Downtown Tucson’s entertainment, shopping, and restaurant choices are a short drive to the east of Ward 1. A step west of town is Saguaro National Park and Tucson Mountain Park, which provide residents with some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities in the desert.
Ward 1 is a largely residential area, but modern amenities can be found scattered throughout. Carondelet Saint Mary’s Hospital is located on the neighborhood’s southern limits. Large shopping plazas like El Rio Plaza are equipped with a variety of eateries and businesses. A mix of affordable rental styles can be found towards the heart of Ward 1.

Property Ratings at Ascension at Ironwood
They will lie to your face. Horrible communication and management. They will tell you one thing and completely lie about it the next. Save your time and your money this place is definitely not worth the trouble.
Don’t get the garden level apartments. There will always be bugs and cockroaches in your apartment and the windows are very small so you will not be getting much natural sunlight. The front office is also disorganized with their packages and are sometimes rude when you come before they log it in the system. What’s the point for paying for two day shipping when it’s sitting in the office unlogged for another day?
In general, I've been happy here. I've been here for two years, and in my first year I had no issues whatsoever. The gates used to break a lot, but they seem okay now. Staff is friendly. Parties here are pretty lame, but I like that because it is really quiet and there's no bothersome noise while I'm trying to study. However, I'm not sure what the purpose of "emergency maintenance" phone number is if nobody ever picks up or calls back. My roommate got locked out of her room (not the apartment itself, but her room) and called emergency maintenance at 6 and left a message. And at 7. And 8. And 9. And 10. They never called back, and she slept on the couch that night and had to get a key in the morning when the office opened. I can't imagine what it would have been like if there was an emergency like a fire or flood. Guess the place would have gone down in flames! I've seen a couple other reviews on how emergency maintenance doesn't respond. So what's the point, then? That's the only problem I've had here, but it's a really big one.
This complex is amazing for the ever struggling college students. This complex is affordable for what it offers. 24 hour accommodations such as a well sized exercise room and a spacious computer area for those who don't own their own computers. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The rooms are impressively large and are fully furnished which is one less thing to worry about. With the shuttle that runs continuously throughout the day, this apartment is the perfect fit for any future grads in need of a place to stay.

Everything at University Villa is top notch. Management & staff are wonderful. Maintenance is right on. Facilities are resort style beautiful. Most importantly, I feel very safe here. Everything you could want & more from Sunday brunch, free cappuccino, free cable TV, internet & so much more. A great value!
