Incorporated in 1859, Moultrie is a historically rich city named for Revolutionary War hero General William Moultrie. Residents are encouraged to dig into the city’s storied past at Carnagie Library, the Museum of Colquitt County, and throughout Historic Downtown Moultrie, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Moultrie’s downtown area exudes a classic Main Street vibe, with an array of specialty shops, antique stores, local eateries, and an award-winning courthouse. Moultrie is home to a thriving agricultural industry, and serves as the host of the largest farm show in the United States—the Sunbelt Agriculture Exposition—every year.
Moultrie hosts numerous special events for the community throughout the year as well, including the Calico Arts and Crafts Show, the Festival on the Square, and the Scottish Festival Weekend. Convenience to Highway 319 makes getting around from Moultrie easy.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
