beware of the parking you will get towed anybody can get towed they pray on the people that live there. The towing makes money on resident and this should not be allowed. other than that it a great place to live the place has many view plans for your price range.

I have been living here for nearly 6 years. The new manager is a joy to work with. Most of the problems of the building have been resolved. The leasing team work really hard to keep this place in order.

Altura is a relatively new apartment complex in a desirable area of San Diego.Close to the beach, shopping, markets etc. It has all the necessary amenities and is run well. The management office is run with minimum personnel who are stretched very thin. It needs more bodies.

Unacceptable Building Maintenance

We have been residents of Altura for six months, and up until this weekend, I would've given it 4.8 stars. On Saturday evening, we tried to leave our apartment only to find the interior hallway leading to the elevator completely dark (not even the emergency exit signs were illuminated), and of course, the elevator was out of service. No problem; call the emergency maintenance line and the problem would be fixed in a few hours, right? No. It is only an answering service that apparently no one monitors on weekends -- even for emergencies like no power and no elevator service. Even though we have power inside our apartment, the hallways, stairwells, parking garage, mailroom, and elevators have now been in the dark or nonfunctional for nearly 36 hours and still no response from the management of Altura, or its owner, Grey Star. They are apparently ignoring all calls and emails about this problem because it is a weekend, and one with a holiday. This has become a serious matter of safety and accessibility for the residents who entrust Altura to provide basic safety measures, like lit hallways and working elevators. We have a person in a wheelchair in our family who cannot exit the building without having to call the fire department. Additionally, Altura knows there are several residents here who are handicapped and rely on elevators. This is entirely UNACCEPTABLE. Also, we cannot retrieve any packages that are locked in the mailroom, due to that being affected by the power outage. My child has a textbook for a class that is locked in the mailroom locker, but there's no way to get anyone to unlock it. Again, it's a holiday, so no response from any management or maintenance. Even the Amazon and UPS employees are calling this "unreal", as they have to deliver packages to residents here in complete darkness. We previously lived in different apartment complex (similar to Altura) and whenever a problem arose on the weekend, we could call the emergency maintenance line and someone always responded. We expected the same here, but I guess we were wrong. So although our apartment is lovely inside and the grounds are beautifully landscaped and well-kept, we have a hallway that looks like a horror movie and no elevator service -- and no idea when any of it will be fixed. These are clearly deal-breakers. We will be moving as soon as possible -- especially when we have a child in a wheelchair who depends on an elevator and cannot use stairs.

I was on the 2nd floor and could hear the people walking, running, vacuuming, cleaning at all hours and late at night. Their walking and running sounded like a herd of rhinocerous. It was so loud and intrusive, very unpeaceful, unpleasant to me hearing them walking, running, vacuuming. I don't know what the top floor sounded like if they could hear their side by side neighbors?

All of the office staff and the maintenance staff do a really good job! However, recommending this apt complex to anyone is a tall order. Honestly, the dog owners in this building complex are all very very inconsiderate. Just this weekend they left dog poop on the elevator floor and in between the door so when the door opened and shut it continue to smash the poop over and over again. Leaving a horrible smell! So I am very reluctant to subject anyone to this kind of behavior! The Staff are all excellent workers and go above and beyond to keep this place safe and clean only to be destroyed by the DOG OWNERS!

Do not recommend living here

Our AC has been broken for 4 days now and this is the 3rd time it has broken in a 3 month period. Since we have moved into our apartment at Altura we have experienced nothing but problems. We thought moving to a relatively newer apartment complex would provide a comfortable life style. Well we were WRONG! The Altura website advertises "luxury living" and "higher quality of life" but in reality falls very short of those promises.

Altura is amazing for families and pets

Altura apartments are great for everyone but both families and pet lovers would also love it here which I know is hard to find. Kids can pick from 2 pools, game room, golf simulator room, ping pong/ foosball by bbq pits, and can hang in cabanas with TVs in them if they want to be outside for their summer days snacking and enjoying the weather. There is also a large dog park that is open 24.7 and so well maintained! I came from the old Carmel creek apartments next door and they had two TINY dog parks that were super run down, gross and are locked up after 10 pm - 6/7 AM. My favorite amenities from Altura is definitely the gym as well as the cycle room. Staffing people are also always pleasant and ready to help with any issue!

I have enjoyed the apartment and amenities. The location is good, quick access to beaches, shopping, restaurants, frwys. Excellent schools for anyone with children. The office and maintenance personnel are all very friendly and welcoming. I have found my neighbors throughout the community to be pleasant and respectful of the rules of apartment living. Overall a good place to live, even in such a difficult year due to covid and lockdown.

It's very expensive. I also feel there is a bit of a bait and switch with the show apartment. The show apartment is painted bright colors, but the actual apartments are all the same beige interior. Also, the show apartment had two sinks in the bathroom, whereas the actual apartments only have one etc.. Small things, but they add up.

I would recommend it definitely. My only problem I have experienced here is a horrible neighbor who lives beneath me and has been a huge problem since day one. He bangs on the ceiling repeatedly, has harassed me in person, and threatened me He apparently does not like or can'??t tolerate apartment living and blames me for noises that he'??s unhappy with - even the dishwasher! He'??s been told by the management to understand that we are just living and there'??s going to be some noise, but he continues to be a problem and it'??s not fair. I'??m not sure why management can'??t do their job and evict him.

We have had issue after issue from the beginning. Our move in date was changed, and then told the apt was ready, then it wasn't ready and they didn't know when it would be ready, apparently management can not communicate with maintenance?? Then after we called Ethan it was ready the next day??? Then we didn't have heat, it took many, many phone calls and trips to the office to get that fixed. I would get a different story from different people when we asked about it, had to call Ethan to get that straightened out also. Then the previous tenant's parcel pending wasn't changed so he was getting our notifications, and the manager said she would get our packages from the lockers and bring them to us, she never did. We ended up calling parcel pending ourselves and they gave us the codes so we could get our packages. We have told the office three times now that our names are still not in the directory for visitors and deliveries, still waiting, I have given up on that.
