The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Alight West Lafayette
1. They charge you for anything and everything- when my roommate and I moved out just a couple weeks ago this is what they are charging us for : handprints on mirrors, our furniture being “old”, leaving JUST a bottle of hand sanitizer behind, mulch on our patio, and for white fingerprints on couch/dust on walls/ceiling left behind by their very OWN construction crew. How do we get charged for OLD furniture?!?! 2. Staff took forever to respond and was NOT nice at all- kept harassing me asking me why I was leaving alight and where I was living next year 3. I would wake up at 5 in the morning listening to their staff JAMMING to music and talking/laughing loudly (I know it was staff bc I lived near the maintenance) 4. My neighbor they couldn’t figure out their heating issue and alight allowed them to live in 100 degree living conditions for weeks 5. MAINTENANCE SUCKS and takes FOREVER and charges you for STUPID things 6. When I moved in they promised me a speaker and I never got it

When you want to move out, they charge you for many unreasonable excuses! They do not provide good service for maintenance! I do not recommend this apartment at all!!
Property Manager at Alight West Lafayette, Responded To This Review
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are disappointed that your experience at Alight West Lafayette fell short your expectations. The fees assessed during your move-out inspection are calculated based on the difference between the condition of the apartment then, versus the condition of your apartment during the move-in inspection. We would love to address any questions or concerns you may have and are happy to dispute any charges, should they be unwarranted. We can be reached at 765-276-7700; please reach out if you are interested in talking.
I love the freedom of of campus living. Great place to live with lots of great community features. The shuttle to campus is reliable, but a little inconvenient because it is so far away. The apartments themselves are very nice. The maintenance staff is very helpful. The only problem is thwith distance from Purdue's campus.
I'm two months rent into a three bedroom, three bathroom lease with the Avenue South. First, within a few hours of moving in, the bottom of my feet were dark black from the filth. I bought a Swiffer and wet mopped the entire apartment. This doesn't bother me too much though compared to my other complaints. Second, the unit I was shown was in much better condition than the unit I was assigned. I expected this a little bit but just know there is no guarantee the apartment you see is a good representation of the apartment you will get. My most substantial grievance is the buses. They advertise that The Avenue is a ten minute ride from campus. This is accurate if you can get a spot on the bus. This is inaccurate for the ride back from campus. Yesterday, it took me 70 minutes to get back and 50-100 people got left to wait for the next bus. In the last seven days using their buses, I would estimate that I average over 1.5 hours in waiting and transit to get to and from campus.
I lived at the Avenue South from Aug 2014-July 2015. Here are my positives. A new mgmt group took over, they did make some nice upgrades to the clubhouse. Free pool, tanning, water, sewage, trash is nice. The apartments look good, having your own bathroom is a HUGE plus. I was a college student during my time here so not having to worry about sharing bathroom time or sharing a bedroom was awesome. This is where the bad starts outweighing the good. Residents are responsible for electricity, no big deal right? I had a part-time job to cover the costs of living while in school & was told the bill would be around $40/person. Maybe $50 a month in the winter. I lived in an apartment on the outskirts of the complex so my apartment was VERY drafty from the wind coming in. Even with thermal curtains I bought & the heater running at 65 constantly when I was home, the apartment was nearly 47 degrees INSIDE. Not only was the winter harsh, my heater seemed to do nothing, the apartment decided to replace ALL the flooring/lighting during the coldest days of the year and left the door open ALL DAY. My heating bill was over $300 for a 3 bedroom apartment during December-February. I am frugal with running electricity. Living anywhere else, my electricity bill has never been anywhere over $80-90 so you can imagine my surprise when I got my bill in the mail. My next big complaint was the maintenance coming in whenever they feel like. They would come in to "check carpets", "check the media panel", "checking the patio light"! They would show up WITHOUT NOTICE and be on my porch! It is scary being home alone and there are people I do not know messing around with things on my patio!! Last time I checked, it is illegal for a landlord to enter a building without 24 hours notice unless its an emergency or safety thing. Each time something needed 'checked' I would be notified the night before around 5pm and they would show up 9am the next day. Also, being a student I relied upon the internet to turn in classwork or study for finals. I had multiple online classes where all my books, everything, is reliant on the internet. Forget trying to access your email during finals week, because the connection is so slow its almost going backwards. There were 3-4 days the internet would go down randomly, when I confronted the office I was told to contact the internet company! If you promise internet as an amenity, UPHOLD YOUR TERMS! 1/10 would recommend the avenue
And great officers. No roaches or mice. Furnished.
I don't have anything to complain. it's a good apartment and it's low price.
