Decatur Heights was developed in the early 20th century. It was once home to modestly-sized cottages and large lot sizes, but as the center of Decatur (just five minutes away) has grown, so too has this family-friendly neighborhood.
Situated between Downtown Decatur and Scottdale, Decatur Heights is a near-perfect location for anyone looking for a peaceful rental with quick access to unique restaurants and shopping. Like the rest of the area, there’s a large emphasis on preserving the natural beauty of the area. Parks — both kid and dog-friendly — are well within walking distance, as is the eclectic offerings of Downtown Decatur. You could spend more than a day exploring all the diverse culinary offerings of Your Dekalb Farmers Market and the restaurants that surround it.
There’s an even mix of apartments and townhomes available, so no matter what your style or budget you’ll find a rental in this unique part of Atlanta.

Property Ratings at Abberly Onyx
The building is great, the staff is wonderful and very helpful, and the location is close to many things. There are great amenities and the apartments themselves are very nice. However as of this year, the location has gotten more and more questionable. There are many homeless drug addicts that frequent the area and live outside. For months one of them has been living at the bus stop right across the street from the apartments and you can hear her screaming in agitation frequently throughout the day and night. Beware of taking any apartment that faces Walmart, especially on the lower floors because you absolutely will hear every single activity going on outside, and screaming drug addicts will become your new alarm clock. To be paying so much for apartments, the surrounding neighborhood is definitely not the “luxury” you’d expect. You’re fine within the building though. If you care about your sleep, do yourself a favor and move somewhere else. Unless you live on the side of the building that isn’t next to the Walmart you won’t be getting much. You will clearly and loudly hear every ambulance that passes by (which happens often in this area), every vehicle, and every screaming addict every single day. Not to mention there are some interesting characters that hang around the sprouts area who may harass you for money or yell at you because they are not mentally well. It’s apparent that only so much can be done in these situations, so again if you want to live in a less chaotic area, move somewhere else.
This place is awful. Keys never work. Homeless people in the stairs. Hot tub and pool never work. Bad living experience.
The staff are very nice but that’s the only good thing about this place. It’s always loud at night, wall is so thin, and the maintenance team came into my apartment and woke me up around 3am to fix my toilet after I filed a maintenance report which is unbelievable. I was also charged for a $200 for getting my stove fixed (which didn’t work before I moved in). Lots of hidden fees. I can’t wait to move out by the end of this year

Current undervalued resident for 3.5 yrs moved in July 2017. Corporate office is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Reported loud knocking walls due to plumbing issues back in Feb 2021, they are still knocking to this day May 28, 2021. I have not been properly listen too, transferred timely, nor compensated for my constant aggervation. I work remotely, so this nightmare has to end. Don't waste your time or money look elsewhere...these apts have gone downhill quick in less than 4yrs!!!
My husband and I and our two young kids lived at Point on Scott for a year while I was completing a postdoc at Emory. It was truly our home away from home and we miss it. The apartment was fantastic, nice layout and top-notch finishes and appliances. I really appreciated the in unit washer/dryer with a 4-year-old and 1-year-old. The amenities were a major perk; we loved the pool and spa, gym, courtyard, and game room. The common areas were always clean and smelled nice (this has not been true of a lot of places we’ve lived). And the location was perfect for us, easy access to Emory and right on the Emory shuttle line, as well as a short drive to downtown and awesome attractions like the aquarium, zoo, Fernbank museum, botanical gardens, and Piedmont Park. Not to mention walking distance to Sprouts and Walmart along with several good restaurants. The staff were outstanding and responsive, especially Keyon. Our 4-year-old had a medical emergency on the day of our move out (of course!), and the staff stayed late for us to do our walk through and key return. A year after we moved out I found our deposit refund check in a stack of mail and called to see if I could have it reissued. I expected to be told no but figured it was worth a try. Keyon answered right away, said they could send a new check no problem, and even asked how my kids are doing. I was really touched that she would remember us after so much time and so many residents. We have lived in quite a few apartment complexes in various cities and states over the past decade for grad school/work, and Point on Scott was by far our best experience. If you have the opportunity to live here, go for it!
I've lived her for about 2 years and I continue to be impressed w/ the maintenance team at this property. They continue to go above and beyond. Most recently I experienced this outstanding service from Rudy, who is part of the maintenance team. Rudy showed up to replace several items within my unit as well as went out of his way to find a certain bulb that I needed for light above my stove. So impressive! Thanks Ruby for your dedication and support. Much appreciated.
Point on Scott is an awesome property! Its location is perfect, walking distance from downtown Decatur, right near I-285, near Emory & CDC...you cant beat it. Not to mention the number of businesses popping up left & right that are in walking distance. The amenities are exceptional. It would be hard to leave this place once here. The staff are all so kind and efficient. Carla, Keyon, & Stefon make the building feel like Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Rudy on the maintenance team is both efficient & professional. I’m one grateful resident
On July 19, 2019 I found my car had been vandalized overnight while parked in the gated parking deck. Someone removed the catalytic converter from underneath my car and I had to have it towed. On this same day I encountered two young ladies who had experienced this same problem the night before in the gated parking deck. When I reported this to the office I was basically told that I would have to call the police, "the complex does not bear any responsibility and that's why you have insurance", and there were currently no cameras in the gated parking deck. I also suggested the residents be advised of these activities and the person in the office said he did not have the authority to do that. In summary, I can say that this experience has left me with a false since of security and a belief that there is little to no concern for victims of crime in this apartment.
This is one of those times that I thought about skipping out on posting a great review, so that people don't start flocking to a hidden gem -- but I am compelled to do so given my stellar experience thus far. I spent 5 days in Atlanta looking for apartments recently, and the last place I visited was Point on Scott -- not because I was out of time, but because it was the right place and I signed practically on the spot. A large part of this decision was due to the STAFF being so incredible: sharp, professional, clear, honest, and open. Having visited more than 10 (likely competitor) complexes in the previous few days, Point on Scott is clearly very well run: they have well-curated and seamless technology interfaces, and in person, the staff is attentive and highly effective. I have worked with Stefon, and I cannot praise highly enough his professionalism, efficiency, and good nature. Given the experience I have had just in the initial stages, I am expecting to really enjoy living there (move-in: Aug 2018).
