Mitchell’s biggest claim to fame is as the home of the Corn Palace, a popular events venue and world-famous roadside attraction which receives a new set of exterior murals (made of dried corn) every year. Beyond this historic novelty, the community cultivates a charming suburban atmosphere for its residents, with lush tree cover, serene neighborhoods, and a charming Downtown district packed with historic storefronts. On the north side, Lake Mitchell serves as a popular destination for swimming, camping, and hiking in the warmer months.
