Neighborhood - Ghent

Historic Ghent stands out as the oldest suburb of Norfolk, with buildings dating back more than 100 years, making it a picturesque place for strolling. In fact, commuters can walk from their homes to the downtown area, just southeast of the neighborhood, in under half an hour. A drive to downtown takes about seven minutes.

Although the downtown area is just a hop and a skip away, residents prefer local haunts found along Colley Avenue, which runs through the neighborhood. Locals can hoist a pint at Kelly's Tavern or the Public House or just indulge in some home-cooked food there. The No Frill Bar and Grill offers up comfort food from chicken tortilla soup to steak tacos. Locals often end their day walking along the Elizabeth River on one of the many public parks, which include Riverside Park and Plum Point Park.
