About This Property
Located in a wonderful family neighborhood (many of the houses in both the 700 and 800 block of Pecan Street are owner occupied) but still zoned for occupancy by 3 unrelated people, this house has been a family home as well as a grad student's delight. Convenient to Schnucks, Burger King, Little Caesars, a gas station and a bank (which are located on or near the corner of Main and Oakland) it's easy to get life's basics done in a short walk or drive! Oakland Street ends behind the parking lot of the Communications building, making it less than a 5 minute drive or 10 minute walk to campus. If you work at Memorial hospital, it’s only 4 blocks away. Pecan Street is approximately 2 blocks north of Main Street and 703 is approximately one block east of Oakland on the south side of the street. Bus lines are within a three-block walk of the house. It is a one story 1908 house, with original woodwork. Bedrooms and living room are carpeted. Entry hall, laundry area, kitchen and bath are ceramic tile. The kitchen has been renovated with oak cabinets, dishwasher, new gas stove in 2021 and lots of storage space. The bathroom was also renovated to "modern plumbing" again in 2019. As was common in that era, the ceilings are tall and are trimmed with cove moulding. There is an "extra" small room at the front of the house that has served as an office, storage room, and child's play room. Full size washer and dryer are located just of the kitchen. There is a large wood deck on the front of the house and a smaller wood deck in the back. Technically, this is a duplex, but it does not have a common wall: it has a common breezeway style roof with the 1 bedroom flat that is located behind the house. Parking is on street, off street in the driveway accessed from Pecan Street or in the parking lot that is accessed from the alley that runs from Oakland to 701 Pecan Street. Rent is $965.00. Dogs or cats are considered on an individual basis and allowed only with a written agreement. Tenants pay for all utilities. No application fees. Online payments accepted.
