I have lived in apartment communities for most of my adult life. I just like knowing maintenance is only a phone call away. 701 South has turned out to be the absolute best. It is quiet, quaint and friendly. And this is due to the professionalism of the management team. They listen to any concerns you may have and always make reasonable accommodations. They do not tolerate bad behavior. And the maintenance team is friendly and quick to respond to any maintenance issues you may have although those a few and far between. This August I will be starting my 3rd year here and I have no intentions of moving in the future.

1. Super skinny upstairs breezeway - measure before moving in upstairs 2. Super small toilet - child size 3. Charges $2.95 to pay by check online 4. Add $65 to what you see on apartments.com for fees and water. 5. plumbing constantly going out and emergency repairs - Lots of water leaking that causes the water to get turned off. Have to wonder if this affects the water bill. 6. close to S. University and hear police sirens a lot and at all hours. 7. There seem to be repairs ongoing. The workers were on the roof right above my bedroom at 6:55am making much noise. 8. every month i got a text and an email about late payments on rent, even though i've never been late. They send the messages to everyone apparently. 9. I wanted to make sure that the autopay would take out the correct amount for only 9 days, and not the full month amount. Was told that it would be best to pay with a money order. She didn't say that I should turn off my autopay in Active Building, only that I should pay with a money order. Active Building debited the full month's rent out. It should have been made clear that I should turn it off. One would not know to do so, especially since it's linked to our account and water bill. Even still, it should not have taken out a full month's rent, only the 9 days. She was more concerned with getting a money order than helping me. 10. It seems as though they want to separate themselves from the online autopay feature, but it's connected because the water amount is placed on the bill. 11. there is a $75 carpet cleaning fee.

My husband and I have lived here for 8 months and have had a great experience. We moved to Mobile for work and I was very stressed about finding a place almost sight unseen. Courtney and Dana were very patient and helpful! The complex is very pet friendly, which we love for our pup. The maintenance crew is amazing! Jarvis and Tom have both come to our rescue right away when we needed help with something. If you are looking for a quiet place, that’s pet friendly, reasonable rent, and great staff, this is the place.

Ceiling leaked instead of fixing the issue it was ignored. Service employee listed “.” As how he fixed the issue. Ghosted out now they pretending like they don’t know anything. Laundry room door will barely open. Other door is falling off. Mailboxes don’t shut or lock without fighting them. Keep your expectations low.

New to the area but the apartments made me feel like home. The manager Courtney worked with me and helped me get in when I need to hurry and find a place. Very quiet area for you to be at peace.
I moved in six months ago and there’s a hole on the outside of the roof on the side of the building the manager said it was going to be fixed still it’s not fixed and now for a month now there’s been an animal inside my roof I can hear it walking around I have emailed in contact and nothing has been done the building outside is falling apart it needs lots of work not worth the money for the amount of rent they charge.
All appliances were not working upon move in. Put in a request months ago and still nothing. Apartment complex looks nothing like it looks in photos.

When I first started living here, the property manager was wonderful. Kind, attentive, and on top of everything. This new manager is a nightmare. She is rude and does not care about the tenants at all. She also began conducting apartment inspections every three months which is incredibly violating and anxiety inducing. Not to mention she has time to do that but the complex itself is falling apart - the stairs are rotting, which is dangerous, and the amount of potholes is ridiculous. There is also water damage on the ceilings, etc.
Under new management and they dont want to fix anything. Some of the rails outside the apartments needs fixing and stairs. They like to add fees for unnecessary reasons. Do not move here
Rent went up yet no maintenance has been done. A month ago 4 units flooded from the bathroom and they did NOT clean the carpets! They sneak around and add “fees” to your account. The previous manager was the BEST! New manager and it’s terrible. Roads are bad with holes from a water leak that’s been there since I moved here 3 years ago. Buildings need A LOT of outside work. So glad I’m working on buying a house!!!!!!!
I cannot say enough about 701 South. From my spacious apartment to the amenities to the property manager....just A++++ in my book! I renewed my lease in October and plan on renewing every year! Not to mention I’m convenient to everything and then some! I highly recommend 701 South! I feel at home and most of all safe in the community.

I've been here for 6 months and it is far one of the most convenient places to live in Mobile. This location is right around the corner from everything! The layout of the apartments has a really nice neighborhood feel to them and has sidewalks inside the community for walking your dog or accessing community features, such as the pool, laundry, and mailboxes. Under new management in 2019, I have to say that having access to property managers when you call is great. For any move-in hiccups I ran into, Tiffany was prompt and did a great job of getting them taken care of ASAP. She's a real gem. New management is really involved with communicating what is going on, as well as notices about pest control and residential upgrades. I like the fact I can pay my rent online and not have to deal with writing a check. Parking is well-lit and I've never had any issues finding a space after hours. Amazon does front-door deliveries on Sunday which is a bonus.
We love our studio apartment here at 701! It’s just enough space for 2 people to live comfortable and it’s easy to keep clean! This place is afforadable and well maintained. Every time I have an issue with something breaking it’s usually fixed the very next day! You can’t go wrong here!
I would not recommend moving into this apartment complex. I've lived here for 6 months with the new management and I'm not a fan. My air conditioner was broken for at least a full month during the summer before it got fixed. My water heater busted and they ripped part of my carpet up and left it there without fixing it. When renovations were done, they left scuff marks, and bused soap dispenser in my apartment. Bottom line is the property is not worth living here.
New management, new problems. Apartment rentals are a business and you can definitely get that vibe here. The remodels are nice but it was only done to raise the rent prices/scatter the old renters that are here. Noise complaints at all points in the complex so make sure you invest in some ear plugs because the paper thin walls are the only thing they didn't remodel. I'm sure this is a great property for the young/casual/short term renter but if you're looking to be here long, you might want to look somewhere else.
I have a wonderful and affordable 500 sqft apartment. It's roomy enough for two people. I've been living here for six months and I really enjoy it.
