Location! Location! Cairn Cottage is ideally located at the boundary of city parkland, offering a panoramic view of Penn Cove, the Wharf, and just a few minutes from the hospital, library, restaurants, parks, the Museum, the Farmer’s Market, local events, and the lively tourist waterfront of the historic town of Coupeville. Constructed by Cascade Custom Homes in 2006, Cairn Cottage is a delightful, sunlit 1,150 sq ft. small "home". Inspired by architect Ross Chapin's award-winning craftsman cottages, it fits perfectly within the serene neighborhood of houses in "Peaceful Valley". The private "garden" features a spacious brick patio ideal for outdoor activities, tall trees for seclusion, and a variety of wildlife! The "landscaping" is maintained through a drip irrigation system. Utilities, including water, and consequently "the landscaping" that is part of the rental agreement, are the responsibility of the renter. There is no grass to cut, and the owner handles the upkeep of the shrubs. The entryway at the front door features a charming covered porch with a gate, ideal for year-round relaxation. The living room is bright and roomy, equipped with a large TV, a radio, and cozy seating. It boasts a high cathedral ceiling, and a romantic bedroom is located on the second floor, providing a view of the living and kitchen spaces. The cottage's south-facing roof includes four skylights. The kitchen features an "open" design with IKEA cabinets and hardwood countertops. The stove is equipped with a glass top. Additionally, there is a work island, refrigerator, waste disposal unit, and dishwasher, along with a spacious, well-lit pantry and storage area. The lighting is both pleasant and decorative. The living room, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom all feature a stylish decorative concrete floor complemented by area rugs. The office is carpeted, as are the stairs and the upstairs bedroom. Additionally, the office includes a convenient coat closet. Every window is equipped with screens, curtains, and privacy drapes, along with some roller shades. The new King mattress is a Serta Classic Elite model. Please note that bedding and linens are not provided. The bedroom boasts four spacious closet areas for hanging clothes, along with a chest of drawers and two bedside tables. Heating in the home is provided by a freestanding "Berkshire" electric propane stove in the living room, complemented by electric fan heaters in every room. Two large ceiling fans are installed to help cool and circulate air throughout the space. Water is delivered by a tankless Rinnai heater, recognized for its efficiency. It is recommended that the washer and dryer handle small loads, and the front-loading washing machine door should remain open. A reverse osmosis water softener is located in the back storage unit. This cozy cottage is ideal for a couple or an individual looking for a rental. It comes fully furnished, and we've documented the items with cell phone photos to make things easier! We recommend having one piece of art on each wall to minimize the number of holes that need patching. Please note that this is a smoke-free zone, both indoors and outdoors. The cottage is also accessible for visitors with disabilities. Additionally, there is parking available in the driveway for two to three vehicles. The "cottage" has served as a "home" and frequently as a transitional space for many, providing a sanctuary of healing and joy. No pets please. 12 month lease option.
