Koreatown in New York City can best be described as a micro neighborhood, with a dense population of businesses in extremely close proximity to one another. The defining portion of the neighborhood, Korea Way on 32nd Street features small but multi-story buildings, with each floor holding one business.
Though just a single block long, the New York City Korean Chamber of Commerce estimates there to be more than 100 small businesses on Korea Way. Korean Town largely came about due to its proximity to the Empire State Building, which attracts a constant flood of tourists to the neighborhood. Koreatown is centered on the block of West 32nd Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
