Picture of Melrose Bronx

Melrose

Times Square is the busiest spot in New York City, but do you know the second-busiest? That would be the Hub, a shopping district located in the Melrose neighborhood. This strip along Melrose Avenue attracts nearly 200,000 people a day. Melrose Avenue runs right through the center of Melrose, which is situated between Manhattan Island and the Bronx. It stretches from East 149th Street up to East 161 Street, between Park Avenue and Third Avenue.

Melrose enjoys excellent amenities, world-class public transportation, and a close-knit community feel (even though it attracts hundreds of thousands every day). The Hub is often referred to as the "Broadway of the Bronx." It is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and specialty stores. The Hub is the oldest shopping district in the Bronx, developing around 1900. In the 1930s, vaudeville theaters, the Bronx Opera House, and movie palaces lined the street.
