Mansfield was founded in 1808 and one of its main attractions is somewhat unusual: it's the historic Ohio State Reformatory, built in 1886 and featured in the movie, The Shawshank Redemption. The prison closed in 1990 and is now open for tours. The prison is supposedly haunted and has been featured on the TV shows Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, and Ghost Asylum. Mansfield is also home to the Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport, Newman Technology Inc., Mansfield Motor Speedway, and Noaa National Weather Services.
Mansfield is a college town, home to the Ohio State University at Mansfield. Downtown Mansfield provides a fantastic shopping and dining destination with elegant architecture wrapped around a historic town square.
