Expect your schedule to be packed with community events when you live in Champaign, from the popular and wide-ranging Boneyard arts festival to the Sweetcorn Festival in neighboring Urbana. As the hometown of late movie critic Roger Ebert, Champaign’s historic Virginia Theatre hosts an annual film festival in his honor.

Property Ratings at 411 E. Healey
All the wood, floors, ceilings, and walls are in bad/old shape - it makes sense when the managers told us in email that they changed their mind about demolishing this place. It's been 8 months, now halfway past through our 3 bedroom lease - I regret not writing this review warning earlier for the incoming residents. Negatives 1. - condition. The floorboards of the entire kitchen are not connected to the bottom of shelves and sink, leaving large visible gaps (~1-2 inches) of unfinished flooring. It is gross to look at because it came filled with crumbs, hard to clean, and near impossible to not let more crumbs to get in. Once a month, pest control comes to spray(takes 1 min) 2 - condition. The cupboards are all scratched up - where there is paint it is gummy to touch. My bedroom came with someone's name (1ft in length) poked out with a push pin (would they have painted over it if I request it?...maybe, but why is not already painted?). Knowing ugoup they will charge me for the damage. My ceiling has 9 white/unpainted marks (six inch diameters) where you can tell they were definitely small holes they had to fill up; probably past leaks. My roommate had a leak in her ceiling when it rains. It only trickled a few times- BUT It took them 5-6 months (november until march) for them to fix the roof. 3. - unresolved power problem. For December and January, our power bill hit 290$ and 360$ (not including the 80$ down payment- type fee. To what extent was the bill our fault (left heater at 70 degrees and we had - barely - opened window during winter break) we do not know. All the property manager did was put in a maintenance request (which I could easily do) and then ghosted us. We knew there was at least one other unit having the same problem over the winter. It is better now in the spring, but not at the promised price - I have heard them tell residents that power water and wifi, trash, etc is 100$ altogether. At its best it has been $240 (fall semester may have been cheaper than it is now but we don't have it in record) Smaller negative things The parking space is very small and cramped, and the ramp is very steep. You just have to pray noone is coming in or out when you are. Positive things: The street has very little traffic despite being adjacent to green st. The amount of rowdy students at night is quiet considering the location. Very fast wifi. ethernet - for only 1 room I believe.
