Being in Suffolk county makes the hamlet apart of the large Sachem School District, and Sachem High School East is located in Farmingville along with several private schools. For drivers, Farmingville has access to the Long Island Expressway via access roads and other highways.

For outdoor recreation, visit one of the highest points of elevation on Long Island at Bald Hill or attend a concert at the Long Island Community Hospital Amphitheater. There are a few more local parks with playgrounds, walking paths, and picnic spots for residents to enjoy as well.
