Heartland Housing, Inc. and Community First are proud to introduce the 37th Street School Apartments; ONLY FOR THOSE 55 YEARS AND OLDER at the 37th Street School located in the Washington Park neighborhood. The mission is to provide our LOW- to MODERATE-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS with the highest quality affordable housing. The thoughtful adaptation of the school building restored its historic features while creating bright and modern, sunlit apartments opening onto wide, accessible corridors. Residents will enjoy a pick-up/drop off area, a walking path and an outdoor patio. The building will be secure, with an access control system and security cameras. The community spaces will include a community room with kitchen, laundry rooms on each floor, with in-unit laundry for two-bedroom units, exercise machines, a computer lab and library. The open spaces on the site will particularly serve as places in which residents can build community with their neighbors. 37th Street School is located near public transportation routes, and the neighborhood includes many amenities including being close to Washington Park, a 120-acre park designed by famed landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, the Washington Park Senior Center, a Progressive Health Clinic.
