Neighborhood - Southwest Coconut Grove

First settled in the early 19th century, Miami's Southwest Coconut Grove neighborhood started as one of many little towns along the southern Florida coastline. Annexed by Miami in 1925, Southwest Coconut Grove incorporates an interesting range of architecture, including Victorian, craftsman-style, and free-spirited 1960s homes. Rentals in the area, many of which come with a beautiful sea view, cost a bit more per month than the Miami average.

The Barnacle Historic State Park is located in Southwest Coconut Grove, featuring a Victorian estate and a mangrove forest. The Barnacle was built in 1891 and offers a glimpse into the life of South Florida's early residents, who had to travel to and from Miami by boat. The park features picnic areas and hiking paths, and it hosts a variety of events, including Graham Wood Drout's Iko-Iko, a mix of Blues, jazz, Mardi Gras, and more.
