About This Property
The building was opened early in the 1920’s as the “Teacher’s Residence” for the St. Francis of Assisi Church Elementary School. At any given time, up to 14 nuns from the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary’s of the Springs lived in the building and taught the classes in the school next door. In 1970 the school was closed and the Convent was no longer needed as a residence for the nuns. The Convent has since been converted to three one floor apartments. This is a large second floor apartment. Just off the kitchen is the dining/living room with hardwood flooring. There is a large bedroom with carpet and another large room with hardwood flooring that could be used as a second bedroom or an additional living room. In addition, there are two smaller rooms with carpeting that are often used as a walk in closet or an office. The bathroom is spacious and provides access to the laundry room. The hallway has hardwood flooring and carpet runners. 14 windows provide lots of light! Off street parking is in the parking lot shared with the church. The Thurber Village Shopping Center is a block away and Goodale Park is two blocks away. St. Francis of Assisi Church is across the parking lot. Rent for one or two persons is $1550/month, $1550 security deposit, 12 month initial lease. Natural gas budget for heat and hot water is $85/month, payable with rent. Prorated water/sewer is additional, average costs have been $1 per day per person, billed quarterly. Electric service is in your name with AEP. Kitchen includes range, disposal, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Laundry includes washer and dryer. Radiators provide heat from a high efficiency natural gas hot water boiler.
