Walk a little over one block and you are at the Historic Seaport where the Schooner Hindu and the Yankee Freedom are anchored. Stroll the boardwalk and enjoy the sunset or marvel at the yachts and sailboats. Become a regular at the incredible pool during the day at Dante's! The sailmaker, Samuel J. Albury, made and repaired sails during the late 1800s to the early 1900s from his home and workshop located at 327 Margaret Street. His home was one of the original homes of Key West. Built by ship builders from Cypress and Dade County Pine. It is of Classic Revival Form boasting of a fresh water well and close proximity to the harbor. The waterfront at that time reached almost to Margaret St. and James Street. On that beach the new or repaired sails where often stretched and laid to dry.
