Tucked among the vineyards in the Santa Maria Valley, Orcutt is a terrific community directly south of Santa Maria. It is named for William Warren Orcutt, a geologist who discovered fossils in the La Brea Tar Pits in 1901. Old Town Orcutt was established in 1904, and today this downtown area is home to shops, breweries, taverns, and wineries all wrapped in fantastic mountain views. Old Town Orcutt is located along Clark Avenue from roughly Gray Street to Broadway.
Orcutt is the ideal location for those commuting into Santa Maria for work, frequent travelers wishing to be close to the Santa Maria Airport, or students attending classes at Allan Hancock College. Located halfway between the mountains and the ocean, it’s also a great place for those who enjoy visiting both. Orcutt is home to several parks, including Orcutt Community Park. This park includes the Orcutt Trails, a multi-use trail system for horseback riding, cycling, dog-walking, jogging, and hiking.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
