The South Marshall neighborhood of Winston-Salem provides an ideal place to call home for both people who work downtown and those who work at the esteemed University of North Carolina School of the Arts. South Marshall features many condos and apartments at the heart of the action. Many newer residences have been refitted into historic industrial buildings and textile mills, giving them an air of urban chic.
Residents jog, bike, and take a relaxing walk down the Strollway, a beautifully developed pedestrian and bike zone that connects South Marshall to Old Salem. Peter's Creek Parkway, just to the west of South Marshall, provides a wide variety of restaurants. Locals head to the UNC School of the Arts for astonishing performing performances by some of Broadway's future stars.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
