Set along State Route 165 about 11 miles south of Columbus, Georgia is Fort Mitchell, This expansive rural area is set around a once-active fort that was set up during the Creek War in the early 1800’s. The fort is now an engaging historic site, providing tours and hosting events year round, but the community around it has grown immensely. New and old housing developments are scattered around Fort Mitchell, including affordable single-family homes.
This is a laidback part of Georgia that lacks the buzzing shopping centers and collections of restaurants. However, with the unique city of Columbus less than 30 minutes north, you can be enjoying a brewery tour or an afternoon of shopping along the river in no time.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
