For weekend golfers, the Detroit Golf Club and Palmer Park Golf Course lie directly north of the area. North of that sits the 5,600-seat Michigan State Fairgrounds Coliseum, home of the annual state fair. South of Winter Halter is Wayne State University, home of the Warriors and one of the venues for the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival.
