Tucked in the foothills of the soaring, rugged San Juan Mountains, Downtown Durango has a long connection to the Rockies. At the heart of Downtown Durango, you'll discover the Main Street Historic District, which contains more than 100 buildings built in the late 1800s. These include the Central Hotel, built in 1899; Woolworths, built in 1859; and Burns Bank, built in 1892. Today, this elegant district contains art galleries, gift shops, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
