Situated in the Tularosa Basin of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alamogordo sits between the Sacramento Mountains and White Sands National Monument. Recreational activities are available year-round in Alamogordo, with plenty of options for hiking, camping, golfing, paragliding, and snow skiing. Alamogordo is also convenient to Holloman Air Force Base, making it a desirable location for military families in particular.
