About This Property
Los Gatos rustic modern Mountain home, "The Pad" with expansive views in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's a great quick getaway from Silicon Valley, just 12 minutes from downtown Los Gatos. Verizon) -Shared starlink internet included -Heat Pump and A/C -Solar powered battery backup for basic services -Gas generator backup for extended power outages. -Laundry room -Shady patio -Carport plus additional parking -Secure integrated 20ft. shipping container for storage -Background check required. -unfurnished -small pets OK -ideal for 1-2 adults -month-to-month lease begins 8/1, but will be available as early as mid July. -EV charging will add $50 per month - $5000 deposit -3 acre parcel is shared with 2 other units, see photo Some additional considerations: I receive much interest in this property from people who have not lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the past. I need to stress that mountain living is NOT FOR EVERYONE. The location can experience extreme weather during the winter including high winds and torrential rains. When it rains 1 inch in the valley, you can expect 3 inches up here. The past winter we experienced a snow storm that left over 6 inches of heavy wet snow that brought down many trees and left some people without power for over a week. Summer fire threats also have caused PGE to install sensors on the power lines that shut off power frequently. Due to this I have installed solar powered battery backup for basic services such as lighting, refrigeration and internet, but for longer power outages and use of the heat pump air conditioning you will need to power up the gas generator. Mud slides and down trees as well as highway 17 conditions can complicate commutes. I do not live on the property so I generally look for tenants who are realistic about these inconveniences, deal well with adversity and have the ability to problem solve when I am unable to get to the property immediately. If you love living in nature and experiencing its range you will thrive here. If you are expecting a cultivated suburban experience you will not. I am still a week or so away from being able to show the property as the tenants are packing and I am beginning making repairs and doing improvements, including getting the home painted. it is currently tan, the moss green in the photo is how it will look on 8/1. Los Gatos is an upscale suburb of San Jose, the home of Netflix’s headquarters and numerous other tech sector companies. Like many communities in the Silicon Valley area, Los Gatos is a picturesque, mainly- residential town with excellent schools. However, it distinguishes itself by the sheer volume of different things to do in town.
For a community its size, Los Gatos enjoys a quite robust nightlife scene, with bars and clubs of every description centered mainly around Santa Cruz Avenue (this is also where you’ll find numerous world-class restaurants and unique shopping).
