Neighborhood

Located along the Cape Fear River directly south of Downtown Wilmington you'll find the historic neighborhood of Sunset Park. Many of the homes in the neighborhood were built in the early 1900s. As the community was being developed, the local newspaper, the Wilmington Star, held a contest to name the new neighborhood and "Sunset Park" was the winner.

Soccer fans will love renting in Sunset Park -- Legions Stadium is located off Carolina Beach Road and is home to the Wilmington Hammerheads, a professional soccer team. Just north of the neighborhood, the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater provides an outdoor venue for concerts and other performances.

Head into Downtown Wilmington to visit Riverfront Park, the Wilmington Downtown Riverwalk, the shops and restaurants along Front Street, and historic sites like Bellamy Mansion Museum. This 20-room plantation home was built in 1859 and is now open for tours.
