Garment District

Less than a square mile in size, the Garment District took on the role of the center of the fabric industry, not only for New York City, but also for the entire nation in the early days of the United States. The core of the fashion industry, this small patch of land has become a mecca for designers, models and fashion talent. Centrally located on Manhattan Island and nestled between the Jacob Javits Center on the west side and the Empire State Building on the east, the Garment District itself and the majority of its individual buildings and businesses are dedicated to fashion in one way or another.
