Regarded as the “Oldest Town in Tennessee,” Jonesborough was established in 1779 and maintains its historical charm with preservation programs, museums, walking tours along the cobblestone streets of the historic district, and a deep commitment to the art of storytelling.

Known as the “Storytelling Capital of the World,” Jonesborough is home to the International Storytelling Center and hosts the annual National Storytelling Festival, which draws thousands of visitors every October. Jonesborough’s affinity for storytelling also manifests in its many art shows, live music performances, and theatrical productions.

There is plenty to see and do in Jonesborough, with an array of local shops, eateries, markets, and attractions in the downtown area in addition to the exciting Wetlands Water Park at the western edge of town.
