This American ‘Four Square’ house for rent, built in 1910, incorporates handcrafted “honest” woodwork popular from the mid-1890s to the late 1930s. Located across the street from the new 41 million dollar Asheville Middle School and YWCA, it is in a wonderful diverse neighborhood. From your front door a 15-minute walk heading north will put you in Asheville’s vibrant downtown with its many parks, restaurants, breweries, retail and grocery stores or in 15-minutes heading south-west you’ll be in Asheville’s trendy Art District and the French Broad River. The house over 2,000 square feet with three large bedrooms and 1.5 baths. On the first floor the large front door entrance opens into the house’s foyer divided by an antique stain-glass wall. To the left of the foyer is a living room/library with built-in bookshelves and fireplace with a 100-year-old gas heating insert for cold evenings. Beyond the large foyer you will find a sunny east facing modern kitchen with a large peninsula and gas stove top, a coffee bar, food pantry, and butler’s serving pantry with a swinging door into the big dining room. Also, off the kitchen is the mudroom with washer/dryer and a half bath. The second floor features 3 bedrooms each with ceiling fans and closets and a bathroom with the old claw-foot tub and plenty of whimsy. The house sits on an exceptionally large lot with plenty of potential for gardening. Backyard is enclosed with mature trees and a splendid view of Beaucatcher Mountain. Lawn care and fall leaf removal is included in the rent. Renters are required to provide watering to plants in containers. One pet is negotiable. If a pet is approved, a $250 refundable pet deposit and additional $40 rent per month is required. The homeowner has discretion regarding the size and type of pet that will be permitted.
