Settled in 1620 by pilgrims from the Mayflower, Plymouth is the oldest city in New England and one of the oldest in the nation. It was surveyed by Captain John Smith around 1616. Downtown Plymouth is located along Massachusetts Bay and is home to Pilgrim Memorial Park, the location of Plymouth Rock, the Plymouth Village Historic District, and the Pilgrim Hall Museum (where you'll see artifacts from the pilgrims).
