Sitting on the banks of the Allegheny River just minutes north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Etna and Sharpsburg boroughs may be separate entities, but the neighboring boroughs share common identities. Residents of both boroughs share a thoroughfare and frequent each other's restaurants, such as Luca's Pizzeria and Jimmy G's Restaurant. Both boroughs feature an urban neighborhood feel with apartments and single-family homes mixed in with warehouses and businesses.
Although neighbors, the boroughs' home school district affiliations are separate. Sharpsburg children attend within the Fox Chapel School District, and Etna children attend within the Shaler Area School District. Each borough prides itself with its own weekend outdoor activity including visiting the Sharpsburg weekly farmers' market open Saturdays from June to October or the Etna sponsored Garden Club.
