Neighborhood - Southwest Little Havana

Southwest Little Havana

Located west of Downtown Miami, Little Havana serves as the cultural and symbolic capital of Cuban-Americans living in South Florida. This enthusiastic neighborhood draws in crowds of visitors from all over the world with its excellent food, historic sites and vibrant atmosphere.

The southwest portion of town seems typically urban at first sight, but not American urban. The streets move slowly and rhythmically, manipulated by the Latin music pouring out of open door shops and car windows. Vendors from Cuba, Peru, Nicaragua and other parts of Central America sell food, flowers and clothes. Simple compact-frame houses dating back to the beginning of the century dominate the area, creating a colorful community scene — both day and night.
